Bio

Mangatelier comes to you from the desk of Conor Mangat. His two decades of design, planning, and production experience—encompassing graphic, interaction, and information design—have evolved with clients as diverse as Adobe, the Financial Times, Gap, Charles Schwab, Palm, Facebook, and Royal Mail.

Conor graduated with first-class honors in Visual Communication from London’s Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication in 1991. The following year, he relocated to Southern California to join the MFA programme in Graphic Design at CalArts, from which he graduated in 1994. Having subsequently completed a range of old and new media projects for MetaDesign in San Francisco and Metro Newspapers in Silicon Valley, he returned to London in 1999 to work independently. With the continued success of Platelet, his first original typeface design (available from Emigre since 1994), he also completed further graduate studies in Typeface Design at the University of Reading. In 2000, he joined Boag Associates, a specialist information design firm in the City of London, and in 2002, returned to work in the San Francisco Bay Area. A second stint at MetaDesign ended in 2006.

Conor’s work has been widely recognized and is included in the Conran Foundation Collection in London. He has also acted as a lecturer and guest critic at, amongst others, the Academy of Art University and California College of the Arts, both in San Francisco, and the London College of Communication.
